An appellate court in Minnesota has ruled that where an injured party's health insurance carrier paid a reduced amount to satisfy medical charges, claimed a subrogation lien for the amount it paid, and then assigned that lien to the injured party, the negotiated discount was a collateral source subject to offset under Minnesota law.
