A California appellate court, affirming a trial court's decision, has ruled that an intellectual property exclusion in a commercial general liability insurance policy precluded coverage of claims asserted in an infringement action brought by the estate of Buckminster Fuller against a company that allegedly had manufactured and distributed several products under the "Buckyball" and related trademarks without the estate's permission or payment to the estate.
