||||
Editor's Note NU Hails WC Risk Management Award Winners! In this eNewsletter, National Underwriter profiles the three winners from the fifth annual “NU Award For Excellence in Workers' Comp Risk Management” program, sponsored by NCCI. This year’s winners were chosen for their loss control, return-to-work programs, employee advocacy, performance and leadership. Meet the winners! Champion: What gives the City of Knoxville, Tenn., such an effective workers’ compensation program, despite the myriad challenges inherent with managing a program for a municipal workforce and all the disparate job types that come with it? Honorable Mention: Because of a belief that its workforce is its No. 1 advantage, Kennametal Inc. refuses to compromise when it comes to protecting them. Honorable Mention: Several years ago, Community Health Systems (CHS) Professional Service Corp. initiated a pilot program to improve employee safety at a hospital in Watsonville, Calif. The loss history at this facility was, to put it bluntly, not good.
