Discount Negotiated by Health Insurer Is Collateral Source Subject to Offset, Minnesota Appeals Court Decides
An appellate court in Minnesota has ruled that where an injured party's health insurance carrier paid a reduced amount to satisfy medical charges, claimed a subrogation lien for the amount it paid, and then assigned that lien to the injured party, the negotiated discount was a collateral source subject to offset under Minnesota law.
