Good morning, Resource Investors.

Demand concerns have dragged down the gold market this week, especially following reports China may reduce its investments in the metal, while the strengthening dollar also weighed on prices. However, many analysts suggest the dip will be short-lived as the past few months have seen reliable speculator-driven buying interest on pullbacks.

The same demand concerns and a strong dollar have pushed copper lower. May futures dropped 0.01% to $3.41 a pound on the New York Mercantile Exchange. This recent drop, though, comes amid an overall major rise that has carried copper more than 100% higher in the past year.

Crude oil is recovering from its recent losses, topping $82 last week for the first time since Jan. 11. The advance was led by strong equities, improving economic data and fund buys at the start of the month. The weekly inventory report's refinery utilization component also supported oil prices last week. Refiners ramped up operations by 0.7% to the highest level in five weeks at 81.9% of capacity on expected demand increases.

For more on the reasons behind these moves, see these headlines, where you can catch up on what happened in the resource markets this past week -- and prepare for the next.
