7th Circuit Rejects Law Firm's Bid for Coverage of Arbitration Award
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, affirming a decision by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, has ruled that a "legal fees" exclusion in a professional liability insurance policy — but not the "sanctions" exclusion — precluded coverage for an arbitration award against the firm.  Read More

An appellate court in Michigan has ruled that an insurance company that sent a letter and a certificate of insurance to an existing policyholder did not just make an offer to renew the policy. Rather, the appellate court decided, the insurer sent a renewal policy that it could cancel only in accordance with Michigan insurance law.  Read More
