Arkansas Appeals Court Finds Coverage After Deciding that "Residence Premises" and "Business Pursuit" Were Ambiguous
Reversing a trial court's decision, an appellate court in Arkansas has ruled that the terms "residence premises" and "business pursuit" in a homeowner's insurance policy were ambiguous and that the insured homeowner was entitled to coverage for claims asserting that a fire on her property damaged the underlying plaintiffs' property. Ohio Law Raises Maximum Possible Claim Payment Amounts for Insureds When Their Insurers Become Insolvent
Senate Bill 223 has become law in Ohio. The bill raises the maximum possible claim payout for disability and long-term care insurance for policyholders from $100,000 to $300,000 and basic hospital, medical, and surgical insurance from $100,000 to $500,000 for claims still pending should an insured's life or health insurance company become insolvent.
