With an 80% MLR requirement, a lot of my small group policies are now paying me a flat $15 or $20 per employee as commission. I have some financial common sense and have realized that the amount of time I spend on these small groups, enrolling employees, answering questions, helping with claims issues, helping with billing issues, shopping and comparing their coverages at renewal time in an effort to save them money and still keep reasonable benefit levels, etc. etc. after the Agency I work for takes its cut, is not worth my time!
